Biographical NoteReturn to Top
The creator of the photograph album is unknown, but the album may have been owned by Virginia Riddle. Her school portarit is located on the last page of the album, and is the only photograph in the album that differs in format and shape from all other photographs in the album. The album was acquired by the University of Washington shortly after Virginia Riddle's death in February 2009.

Album containing photographs of groups of family members and friends at various locations, largely in Mount Baker and Wenatchee National Forests. Locations include: Mount Pilchuck, Verlot, Barlow Pass, Big Four and Big Four Inn (destroyed by fire in 1949), Monte Cristo Lake, Lost Lake, Goat Lake, Heather Lake, Twin Lakes, Deception and Canoe Passes and the Decption Pass bridge. Also includes snow scenes from "Winter of '36," a Cole Brothers Circus parade in Everett (1936), aerial views of Everett, the Ellensburg rodeo, the Meany Hotel in Seattle's University District, Suzzallo Library and the UW crew team (1935), plus a football game against Washington State College and Governor's Day at Husky Stadium.
A clipping inserted in the back of the album lists Everett High School students headed to Washington State College and University of Washington and may be related to the creator of the album.

Big Four Hotel (also called Big Four Inn)
Built by the Rucker Brothers in 1922. It had a view that was compared to the Alps. It was destroyed by fire in 1949.
