Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Harding Drug Store was an Oregon City business started in 1873 by George A. Harding.
A native of Australia, George A. Harding (1843-1926) came to Oregon with his mother in 1857. In 1861 Harding became associated with Dr. Alden H. Steel in the pioneer drug store of Oregon City. In 1873, he partnered to form the drug firm of Ward and Harding. Around 1880 he purchased the drug business of C. O. T. Williams and consolidated it with the Harding store, building the enlarged Harding Drug Store on Main Street.
