Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Kurt Weill Foundation for Music was established by Lotte Lenya in 1962 to continue the legacy of musician and composer, Kurt Weill. The Foundation now owns copyrights to all of Weill's scores and recordings and offers advice about their availability to producers and performers who wish to perform his music. The Foundation publishes the Kurt Weill Newsletter, has sponsored a number of conferences and symposia, and has funded 140 projects in the U.S., Western Europe, and South America, in the areas of research and travel, dissertation assistance, and performance. The Foundation also opened the Weill-Lenya Research Center, which holds archival collections and conducts oral history interviews such as the one included in this collection. Maurice Abravanel was once a student of Kurt Weill and the interviews center around their association and respective careers.
