Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Shannon Dudley is a teacher, curator, musician, band director, and author. He earned his PhD from the University of California Berkeley and is currently a professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Washington (UW). He teaches classes on topics such as the music of Latin America and the Caribbean, American popular music, and comparative Musicianship and Analysis. He is the director of the UW steeland and performs his own steel pan music with several local groups. Dudley, along with his wife Marisol Berríos-Miranda, is a director of the bilingual museum American Sabor: Latinos in US Popular Music. He has published a variety of articles and books about music and the Caribbean.
