Rodney "Rod" Hughes was an author, and a graduate of the University of Oregon, who later lived with his wife Ellie for some time in Peurto Rico. He published at least one work, The Dragon Keeper, in 1974.

The collection contains draft manuscripts, notes, and one submission letter. It is not known if any of these titles were ever published.
Manuscript titles include:
"Lover's Bridge," a novel, consisting of a two typed and handwritten drafts, with edits, and also accompanying notes. Part of this novel is set in Portland and Eugene, Oregon.
"Sing to me Songs of Olde," a short story, consists of a typed draft, with notations and edits.
"Perpetual Movement," is a short story and the collection contains a draft, and a final version with an accompanying submission letter to Playboy, 1973.
"Vacations in Hell," consists of a draft manuscript with notations and edits.
