Biographical NoteReturn to Top
John Storseth was born in Hemne, Norway in 1863. He was educated at a nearby school, eventually attending Seminar and becoming a teacher. He taught at Vinje-ora, where he opened a private school for children and was an active member of the community. After completing time with the military, he immigrated to Victoria, B. C. and began work as a carpenter. In 1889, he moved to Seattle and purchased a small plot in Poulsbo. He continued his carpentry work in Seattle as he settled his homestead, eventually marrying and starting a logging business. This business flourished and expanded greatly, and John Storseth became known as a community leader in Poulsbo. He died there in 1946, and was survived by his son Peter.
