Scope and Content: Tape-recorded interviews, with transcript, 1979.
Pettus talks about Seattle in the 1930's. The questions of the 3 interviewers do not appear in the transcript; Pettus' answers run together in a single narrative. Also the tapes may contain more material than is in the transcript; the transcript is a selection of the most interesting and valuable material and was produced for a slide show. The ten sections of the transcript correspond to the ten sides of the tapes. These interviews were made for the Seattle Public Library series "This City, Seattle." David Current has the original reel-to-reel recordings; can refer users who wish to do productions with broadcast quality to Mr. Current.
