Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Matthew Kangas was born in 1949 and attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. He later studied at the University of Manchester and at Oxford University. Kangas worked in the art publishing industry in New York City until 1976, when he returned to Seattle and began writing about art. He has written for Art in America and Art Criticism, among other magazines; taught at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle; and was an art critic for KCTS-TV (PBS), Seattle.
