Content DescriptionReturn to Top
The Hugh Nibley papers (1970) consist of two versions of a burlesque on BYU written for the Brigham Young University Women's Program. The first version was censored. Also included is a speech given at the University of Utah. The play is about the quality of a Brigham Young University education given as a dialogue between two mid-eastern men, Hadji and Ali. The character of Hadji is a parody of Hugh Nibley. Ali, as a foil to Hadji, is an intellectual nobody, a wealthy shop-keeper whom Hadji grants an honorary BYU degree.
