Summary
Rosco Tolman planned and implemented the Mexico program throughout the 1960s and into the early 1970s as a way to teach and immerse prospective Spanish students. While in Mexico, the Students would visit historical sites and practice their Spanish speaking skills with the general population in Mexico. While on campus Rosco Tolman instructed Spanish.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Dr. Rosco Tolman first began teaching Spanish for Central in 1970. He attended University of Iowa for his masters and earned his PH.D. from the University of Utah. As a faculty member here at Central he filled many roles throughout his career. At one point in his career he served as chair for the department and as interim dean too. In 1961 and again in 1965 Tolman took several busload of Central students to Guadalajara, Mexico to study Spanish abroad and learn to about Mesoamerican archaeology sites.

This collection includes 68 35 mm color slides, of Students and historical sites from the Mexico Program. This was a large study abroad program that went throughout the 1960s and ended in the early 1970s
