Historical NoteReturn to Top
Neighborhood House began as a project of the Council of Jewish Women but is now an autonomous organization which has no connection to the CJW. When it was founded by the CJW it was called Settlement House; in 1917 the name was changed to the Educational Center; and in 1948 it was renamed Neighborhood House. For about eight years it remained a subgroup of the CJW. Seattle Section. Neighborhood House. In 1956 the CJW released the project and Neighborhood House became a private non-profit organization. Records from early years are in CJW accessions.
