Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Northeastern Resources Committee was formed in 1957 at the call of several Governors of the New England States. Its charter was approved by the Inter-Agency Committee on Water Resources, a Cabinet-level group appointed by President Eisenhower. The purpose of the NRC is to provide improved facilities and procedures for the coordination and implementation of the policies, programs, and activities of the States and Federal agencies in the field of water and related land resources investigation, planning, construction, operation and maintenance. It is to provide conflict resolution and coordinate the interests of the States and Federal agencies with public and private agencies in the same field.
