The Charles E. Lauterbach Papers contain Lauterbach's research and manuscript drafts for his books on the history of theatre and entertainment in Boise and in Idaho during the territory years and early statehood.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Professor Emeritus Charles Lauterbach served on the faculty of the Theatre Arts Department at Boise State University from 1971-2001. A founding member of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the Michigan State Performing Arts Company, Dr. Lauterbach received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Colorado, and his doctorate from Michigan State University. Lauterbach is the author of four books on the history of theatre in the Boise region and in Idaho: Pioneer Theatre in the Boise Basin: 1863-1869 (2013); Jolly Della Pringle, Star of the Western Stage (2015); Comedian of the Frontier: The Life of Actor/Manager Jack Langrishe (2016), and The Golden Age of Boise Theatre: 1900-1920 (2017).
