Collection is open to the public.
Collection must be used in Special Collections & University Archives Reading Room.
Catherine Woolley (August 11, 1904-July 23, 2005) was born in Chicago Illinois to Edward Mott and Anna L. (Thayer) Woolley. She passed away in Truro, Massachusetts. She received her education from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Woolley began her writing career as an advertising copywriter, then worked as a free-lance writer of books for children, some written under the name Jane Thayer. She worked at many different places, such as the American Radiator Co. in New York City, American Radiator and Standard Co. New York City, National Association of Manufacturers, Architectural Record, Society of Automotive Engineers Journal, National Association of Manufacturers again, Passaic Redevelopment Agency member, Passaic Board of Education, teacher of juvenile writing, Cape Cod Writer’s Conference, conductor of workshop for juvenile literature, Truro Center for the Arts. She was also a trustee for the Truro Public Libraries. She was adept at stories about bunnies, kitties and kindly wolves.
The collection includes manuscripts and correspondence with publishers, particularly Harper and Brothers, and William Morrow and Co. For most of the files, each manuscript has its own correspondence in the file with the manuscript.
