Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Ram Narayan (1927-) is a Hindustani classical musician from Mewar, India. He is known for popularizing the sarangi as a solo concert instrument. He worked as a music teacher and traveling musician before being hired by All India Radio as an accompanist in 1944. During his music career, he traveled around the world to perform, frequently with his older brother and tabla player Chatur Lal. In 2005, he was awarded the honor of Padma Vibhushan.
Suresh Talwalker (1948-) is a tabla player from Mumbai, India. He learned tabla from his father Dattatrey Talwalkar before studying under tabla players Pandharinath Nageshkar and Vinayakrao Ghangrekar. His style, which he uses to accompany classical musicians and dancers, is a mix of several stylistic schools. In 2013, he was awarded the Padma Shri.
