William Hard began his career in journalism at the Chicago-Tribune and spent several years as a magazine editor before becoming a writer for the Saturday Evening Post. From 1900-1920, he was an advocate of progressivism and wrote articles about child labor, unsafe conditions in industry, industrial accidents, the status of modern women and other social issues.
