Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Ervin Raymond Gahringer (February 28, 1894-November 12, 1943) was born in Minnesota. He moved to Wenatchee, Washington as a small child with his parents. After serving in World War I, he returned to Wenatchee where he lived out the remainder of his life.

Correspondence, diary, legal documents, clippings, publications, photographs, ephemera.
The collection contains Gahringer's diary detailing his experiences in Europe in World War I, and transcript of the diary by the donor. The collection also includes a songbook of AEF songs; a book of postcards from Bordeaux, France; Gahringer's enlistment records; a book about the 347th battalion; a folder of clippings; the book Hindenbergwith the following note inside the front cover, "picked up in the front lines;" four photographs, including a portrait; a World War I helmet; two medals; and coins.
