- The Guy R. McKay papers (1935-1954) consist of an original and photocopy of a report by McKay titled "The American Flag Mine." The report was intended to furnish geological and engineering data to accompany an application of the Park City Development Company for listing its stock on the Salt Lake City Stock and Mining Exchange. A photocopy of McKay's obituary is also included in the collection.

Historical NoteReturn to Top
Guy Raymond McKay was born 25 October 1883 in Penbina, North Dakota. He married Genevieve Cherry McKay 7 July 1914 in Sioux City, Iowa. McKay graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in mining engineering. After graduation he moved to Idaho and worked in mining until settling in Park City, Utah in 1911. McKay was engineer for the Judge Mines, geologist for Park Utah Mines, and superintendent of the Daly West Mines until moving to Provo in 1936. He was engineer for the Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory during the construction of the Geneva Steel Plant. His final position was that of assistant to the Provo City engineer. As a member of the Masonic Order, he served as Past Master of the Park City Lodge. He died 27 October 1954.
