Biographical Note

Ezekiel "Zeke" Ricker Dumke Jr. was born in 1923 in Ogden, Utah to Ezekiel Dumke Sr. and Edna Wattis Dumke. He was educated in Roswell, New Mexico and graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute with a commission in the Cavalry. Later he served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and with the Army Reserve until 1960. He graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in banking and finance and was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was one of the founders and president of Western States Management, the University of Utah Hospital Foundation, the Salt Lake Rotary Foundation, Dumke Insurance Agency, Western States Thrift, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Utah and several mining companies.

Katherine Elizabeth White Dumke was born on November 6, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Reva Lewis and W. Rulon White. She attended Ogden High School and the University of Utah, where she was affiliated with Chi Omega and graduated with a bachelor's degree in home economics. In 1951, Ezekiel R. Dumke, Jr. married Kay and raised four children in Salt Lake City.

Together they founded the Katherine W. Dumke and Ezekiel R. Dumke Jr. Foundation in 1988. The Dumke Jr. Foundation has supported charitable organizations throughout the Intermountain region and their philanthropic work, carried on by their children and grandchildren today, has left its mark on countless lives and institutions.
