Historical BackgroundReturn to Top

Hillel was created in 1923 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and adopted by B'nai B'rith the following year, enabling Hillel to grow into the world’s largest Jewish campus organization. The B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundation at the University of Washington was founded in 1947. The University of Washington Hillel continues to connect students to the Jewish community on campus through programs and events.
