Historical NoteReturn to Top

Daniel H. Lownsdale (1803-1862) was one of the founders of Portland, Oregon. Job McNamee (1812-1872) moved to Oregon in 1846 and started the first school in Portland, Oregon. Josiah L. Parrish (1806-1895) was a missionary who favored creating a provisional government in the Oregon Territory. Parrish was chosen to be an indian agent for Oregon in 1849. A.C. (Allison Clark) Bonnell (1801-1875) was a records clerk. In 1852, Bonnell was elected the second mayor of Portland.
