Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Originally founded as the Home Economics Department in 1909, the School of Home Economics was created in 1935. The name was changed to the School of Nutritional Sciences and Textiles in 1977. The school stopped accepting new students in 1982 and terminated in 1984.

Photographs of ethnic costumes and textiles mainly from European and Balkan countries such as Croatia. Most of the photographs were possibly made or collected by Blanche Payne during the period when the name of the department was the Home Economics Department (pre-1935).
