Born June 25, 1954 in Klintzy, Russia. Grew up in Moscow. Married January, 1977. Left Moscow in 1978 with husband, Solomon Pletner, when she was 23. Arrived in Seattle in 1980.

Tape recorded interview covering the years 1971-2000, taken on August 21, 2000; transcript, copies of photographs, and certificates
Mrs. Pletner talks about her life in Russia up to the time when she, her husband and son emigrated to the United States in 1978. She describes their journey and the two years they lived in New York, before settling in Seattle in 1980. Irene talks about her family, and her husbands work as an interpreter and his new town-car business. Irene talks about her work at the University of Washington School of Dentistry since 1984. She also talks about the experience of being a Russian Jew in Seattle and her family's Jewish identity.
