Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Mrs. Berch, born Laura Sender in Russia, immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, where her family homesteaded in Camper, Manitoba from 1914-1919. Her husband, Michael Berch, was in the hay and grain business in Winnipeg and Seattle. She was a founder of Hadassah, a women's Zionist group. Laura Berch was president and secretary of Hadassah in Seattle. She was active in Hadassah and Torah from the 1920's.

Scope and Content: Tape recorded interview of Laura Berch conducted by Mrs. Schrieber on Feb. 7, 1973 and Oct. 16, 1979, a brief history of Seattle Hadassah 1894-1930, newsletter (1973), transcript of interview and letter regarding campaign against public school Bible reading (1933).
Mrs. Berch talks about her early life in Russia and arrival in Winnipeg, Canada, where her family homesteaded in Camper, Manitoba from 1904-1919.
