Lorenz started teaching skiing in the 1940s. Lorenz started teaching skiing in the 1940s. He was a ski school director at Little Mountain and Solitude, president of Intermountain Ski Instructors of America (ISIA), and a charter member of the Utah Ski Archives Advisory Board. He serves on the Alf Engen Museum Foundation Board of Directors.

Various issues of The British Ski Year Book (1928-1952) were removed from this collection and placed in the Western Americana Division of Special Collections. Slides were transferred to the Multimedia Division of Special Collection (P0944).
