- Videotaped interviews made in 1992 with Emma Cox, Harriet "Babe" Hanson, Gertrude Maxwell, and Beulah Reeves, all women who spent portions of their lives in the Idaho backcountry; together with interview logs. The interviews were recorded during the making of the video, Women in Wilderness, by University Television Productions, and portions of them were interwoven into the program, which tells the women's life stories. A DVD of the finished program has been added to the collection.

Acquisition Information
Interview tapes were transferred to the Library from Boise State University, University Television Productions, in 1995. Additional tapes were transferred from Archives Media (UTP Box 63) in 2019. Additional Susan Randall productions for Boise State University are available in UTP Boxes 63-65. Contact Special Collections staff for more information.

An additional DVD copy of the completed program is also located in University Archives (UTP 19921224), the VHS to DVD transfer was performed in 2011.

Emma Cox (1920-2011) and her husband Lafe operated a dude ranch near Yellow Pine, Idaho. Her autobiography, Idaho Mountains, Our Home: Life in Idaho's Backcountry, was published in 1997. She was interviewed by Gayle Valentine.

Harriet Hanson (1899-1992) and her husband Henry operated the Sawtooth Lodge at Grandjean, Idaho. She was interviewed by Gayle Valentine and Ann Finley. (A raw footage tape does not exist for Harriet Hanson.)

Gertrude Maxwell (1908-1998) led hunting and fishing parties into the backcountry from her home in Elk City, Idaho. Her autobiography, My Yesterdays in Elk City, was published in 1986. She was interviewed by Gayle Valentine.

Beulah Reeves (1906-1994) managed the guest ranch at Robinson Bar for the Clark family. She was interviewed by Gayle Valentine, assisted by Bethine Church.
