2013-12.16 EC - Sana Kamara "Bongo Rapp" [hand-written on CD]; accompanying letter to S. Ottenberg from Ousmane Jobarteh dated Nov. 7, 2003 explains that the recording is of one of his teachers, Sana Kamara, who is mainly a drummer but here plays the Bongo, also known as Gongoma in Conakri (sp.?) or Kunkuma "in your part of Sierra Leone." "Sana has his own Mandinka style, quite unlike anything I have heard from any other musician on this instrument." The CD was recorded by Ousmane Jobarteh in his apartment in New Jeswang Gambia. Jobarteh also refers to his radio program.
