Marshal Phelps Burnett (1861-1935) was born in Colusa County, California. He came to Oregon with his parents in 1867. He served as Benton County treasurer, 1890-1894; Benton County sheriff, 1900-1908; and federal revenue collector and Prohibition agent, 1918-33. He died in Myrtle Point.
