Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Almyra Weiss Eichlin, 1898-1994, born in Norwalk, Connecticut, was the granddaughter of Civil War Lieutenant Stephen Bogardus. Eichlin grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania and married late. Her husband to-be (James Eichlin) was on the 1927 trip described in the scrapbook.

The album documents a trip by rail on the Kline Tour in private Pullman cars from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to the Pacific Coast. Images include the Canadian Rockies (Banff, Lake Louise); Alki Beach, Seattle; Longmire, Mt. Rainier, Paradise Inn; Columbia River; California (Shasta Springs, San Francisco, Muir Woods, Santa Barbara, Catalina, Los Angeles); Grand Canyon; Utah; Yellowstone; Colorado Springs; and scenes of a rodeo. The collection also includes 6 loose pictures from album, 2 brochures and baggage claim? from the trip, and 1 black and white photograph of a party of hikers on Mt. Rainier.
