Biographical NoteReturn to Top
John Baily is an ethnomusicologist, psychologist, author, and film director. He has doctorates in Human Spatial Coordination and Motor Control and Ethnomusicology. In 1973, he traveled to Afghanistan for ethnomusicological field world. After returning, he trained in film making and directed the award-winning film Amir: An Afghan refugee musician's life in Peshawar, Pakistan. He was previously an associate professor at Columbia University, New York and is currently Professor of Ethnomusicology and Head of the Afghanistan Music Unit at Goldsmiths, University of London.
