Historical NoteReturn to Top

Through the years, the UW Libraries area called Public Services, Research and Instructional Services, and now Research and Learning Services provided collections, space, reference and circulation services to support research and publishing by the academic community. Both computer-based reference services and the Online Reference Services Council fell under its banner. The creation of the current RLS portfolio came during the Organizational Review Initiative (ORI) that was launched in April 2015 to examine the Libraries organizational structure in light of strategic planning.

Research and Learning Services (RLS) provides collections, space, as well as reference and circulation services to support research and publishing by the academic community. Areas within RLS include Access Services, Information Technology Services and Digital Strategies, Odegaard Undergraduate Library and Learning Services, Research Services, and Scholarly Communication and Publishing. The RLS portfolio was created during the Organizational Review Initiative (ORI) that was launched in April 2015 to examine the Libraries organizational structure in light of strategic planning.
