The Coalition For Quality Integrated Education was a Seattle citizens’ action group which existed from 1970 to 1980. Their purpose was to promote and facilitate desegregation in the public schools. It was preceded by the following similar organizations: Volunteer Instruction Program, Loaned Wage-Earner Program, School Volunteer Services, Voluntary Transfer Program and School Affiliation Services. CQIE had office space in the Seattle Public Schools and received some support from the school district, but depended on grants for much of its funding. The organization lost some of its grant funding in 1977.
