Historical NoteReturn to Top

Nels Anderson was born in Chicago in 1889. His family moved quite often, exposing Anderson to many societies, including the Nez Perce Indians. He attended high school at Brigham Young Preperatory School and the St. George Academy. He received his B.A. degree from Brigham Young University in 1920. In 1925, he graduated with an M. A. degree from the University of Chicago, then received his Ph.D. from New York University in 1930. Anderson was a teacher, writer, military man, and sociologist.
