Historical BackgroundReturn to Top
The Attwell Construction Co. was founded around 1947 by Percy Robert Attwell and his wife Mabel Attwell in Seattle. Attwell was a former carpenter/salesman for the Speedwall Company, another company specializing in laminated timber construction and manufactured homes. At some point in the early 1950s, Mabel would take control of the company and serve as president with their son John E. Attwell serving as the vice-president. In 1952 the Attwell Construction Company would become a charter member of the American Institute of Timber Construction. The company built many gymnasiums for housing projects in Seattle, and high schools throughout Washington.
