Historical NoteReturn to Top

Isabel Stewart Way (1904-1978) began writing for a newspaper syndicate in 1923 and was published in 1924 in Brief Stories. She was also published in the New Yorker and the Saturday Evening Post. Way wrote short stories, novels, and novelettes.

The collection contains literary manuscripts, correspondence, notes and resource material, memorabilia, maps, books, newspaper clippings, and a photograph.

The initial donation of 1968 included manuscript material for short stories, novelettes, novels, and a movie scenario. There is also personal correspondence and fan mail available and business correspondence that includes letters exchanged with the Lenniger Literary agency and Agent Edith Margolis. Miscellaneous materials include notes and resource material, contracts, tearsheets from pulp magazines, and memorabilia.

The 1968 addendum contains manuscript material for four titles, two civil war campaign maps, and a book.

The 1974 addendum includes manuscript material for novel-length works, short stories, and poetry. This addendum also includes incoming correspondence, and miscellaneous material such as newspaper clippings, notes, a photograph and memorabilia.
