Biographical Note

Nelson "Nels" T. Hartson was born in Spokane and attended the University of Washington circa 1909-1911. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, the Fir Tree Club, and Vice President of the Stevens Debating Club in 1909 at the University.

Content Description

Images depict Hartson's initiation into the Phi Delta Theta fraternity in 1910 and also the Phi Delta Theta fraternity house. Also included are pictures of mountaineering activities at Mt. Rainier (1915) including a summit photograph of four climbers on July 25, 1915 and 4 photographs of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition of 1909. These include images of the grounds, Cascade Court and Formal Gardens.
