Break dancing is characterized as an informal, aesthetic expression, mostly as a manifestation of Black male, youth culture in Eugene. The author explores the phenomenon through observation made into written analysis and video documentation of five dancing events. Rap as a musical form is also discussed in relation to breaking; as well as various social issues and slang.
