Historical NoteReturn to Top
Provo, Utah was inhabited by the Ute Indians. In 1849, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints settled in the area, and was the first Latter Day Saint colony in Utah outside of Salt Lake Valley. Wards were set up by the LDS Church with a bishop at the head of each.
