- Summary
- Bernard DeVoto (1897–1955) was a famous writer, editor, critic, and conservationist during the early 20th century. In 1933 DeVoto recieved a fan letter from a young woman named Katharine Sterne. His reply sparked an 11 year correspondence, with the two exchanging over 800 letters until Sterne's death in 1944. Excerpts of their letters have since been compiled and published by writer Mark DeVoto, Bernard's son. This collection contains typescripts of the letter series as annotated and edited by Mark DeVoto in preparation for his book, The Selected Letters of Bernard DeVoto and Katharine Sterne.
