The Eastern Washington University Archives and Special Collections Purchased Manuscript Collection consists of maps, prints, and documents on the history of the Pacific Northwest. The maps consist of state and territorial maps of Washington and Oregon, maps of various sections of the Columbia River, and topographic maps. The prints consist of lithographs and etchings of buildings and landscapes located. Documents consists of pages from periodicals and pamphlets and postcards.

Arrangement

The collection has been organized into five series and five subseries.

Series 1: Eastern Washington, 1855-1960. This series is divided into five sub-series: Central Washington, General Eastern Washington, Lincoln, Spokane, and Whitman Counties, Northern Washington, Southeast Washington.

Series 2: Western Washington, 1853-1918.

Series 3: Washington state and Oregon, 1855-1955.

Series 4: Depictions of Native Americans, 1873-1898.

Series 5: Miscellaneous West, 1857-circa 1892.

Series 1:  Eastern Washington, 1855-1960Return to Top

This series consists of maps, prints, and documents on regions of Washington state that extend east of the Cascade Mountains. This series is divided into five series according to geographic region within eastern Washington.

Subseries 1: Central Washington
This subseries consists of materials on Chelan, Kittitas, Douglas, Grant, and Yakima counties. They include profiles of Ellensburg, maps of rapids along the Columbia River, and documents on Grand Coulee Dam and Yakima. Items are organized according to name of locale depicted.
