Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Bourbon Charles (B.C.) Collier was born February 23, 1857 to James Collier and Mary Jane Lynkhardt in Iowa. Collier married Effie May Groscot (April 1868-December 1, 1953) in 1885. The couple had five children, Patricia Vera (August 12, 1886-December 28, 1966), Ira Leonard (April 18, 1888-May 18, 1961), Helen Natalie (March 15, 1890-December 9, 1978), George Lynkhardt (June 6, 1892-March 16, 1978) and Olive Irene (October 12, 1899-April 8, 1989). Patricia, Ira and Helen were born while the family lived in Ohio, George in Illinois and Irene shortly after they moved to Olympia, Washington.
Patricia married Thomas W. Parrish (March 26, 1876-October 16, 1953) on June 20, 1907. Helen graduated from the University of Washington in 1912. She married John Hogansen (January 28, 1884-November 29, 1981) on December 27, 1927. George married Evelyn Violet Aitken (November 19, 1892-May 1969) on May 19, 1915. Ira married Iris Kneen (1893-1961) on November 4, 1916 in Spokane, Washington.
B.C. Collier had a photography studio on the corner of 5th and Washington Street in Olympia, Washington from 1901-1902 and 1915-1916. He also had a studio at 11 ½ Wenatchee Avenue North in Wenatchee, Washington from 1903-1911 and is listed as a member of the Wenatchee Commercial Club in the 1910-1911 directory. Collier died on September 7, 1917 and is buried in Cashmere, Chelan County, Washington.

Photographs taken by B. C. Collier including portraits of Native Americans from the Colville, Wenatchee, and Chelan tribes, made both in the studio and in their villages. There are also landscapes of the Columbia, Wenatchee, and Chelan Rivers; photographs of buildings; and portraits of members of the Collier family, and the Ladies Aid Group of Wenatchee First Presbyterian Church.

reading Alfred Olds was born in Massachusettes and visited Wenatchee,
Washington in 1894. He purchased property in the town from the Burch family the
following year. The Olds Company was on this land and operated an apple
orchard.
