Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Jane Newberger Freyd was born December 19, 1924 to Meyer and Jenny Newberger in Seattle, Washington. She grew up on Capitol Hill and attended Stevens School, Broadway High School and the University of Washington. Jane was a nursery school teacher at AME Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was involved in numerous organizations including Hadassah, Bremerton Ladies Chorale, Bremerton Symphony Chorale, Mountaineers Summer Theater, Bremerton Community Theater, Girl Scouts/camping at Robbinswold, American Association of University Women, Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority, Music and Art Foundation, League of Women Voters, local chapter of the Democratic Party, Hamilton House Hamiltones and the Washington State Jewish Historical Society.
