Historical BackgroundReturn to Top
The Northwest Craft Center, a not-for-profit organization, was founded in 1963 as a showplace and gallery for Northwest ceramics and crafts. The incorporating board members in 1965 were Norman Warsinske, Jian Johanson, Lorene Spencer, Robert Sperry, Don Foster and Director, Ruth Nomura. The Northwest Craft Center was located at Seattle Center in the former Swedish Pavilion from Seattle's 1962 World's Fair. The Northwest Craft Center has been an exhibition space and sales gallery for many artists in the Northwest, including Kenneth Callahan, Guy Anderson, and Harold Balazs. The Northwest Craft Center closed in 2011.

Six drawings, one set numbered ID-1 to ID-3 with plans duplicated to show electrical revisions. Drawings include changes the main floor, mezzanine level, and a section drawing of the storage and mezzanine.

Six numbered drawings include a main floor plan with index of repositioned outlets, storage room elevation with handwritten notes, design drawings for the jewelry case and counter extension along the north wall.

Seven drawings, numbered 1-7, show remodeling to the display areas for the Northwest Craft Center. Drawings show designs for the metal framework in the display cases, shelf-supports, a display case frame with Formica top, display case at entrance area, and alterations to existing display cases. Drawings also show electrical additions and revisions.
