Biographical Note

Benjamin Marks Bridge (1896-1974) was a civic leader and the chairman of the board of Ben Bridge Jeweler. Bridge came to Seattle in 1904 from Poland. He graduated from Broadway High School and attended the University of Washington. He was a Navy chief radio electrician in World War I. Mr. Bridge was a founder of the Seattle Historical Society, the Jewish Community Center and the Seattle Better Business Bureau. He was a Freemason, a member of the American Legion, state chairman of the Bonds for Israel, president of the Bikur Cholim Synagogue, and in 1963 campaign chairman for the Federated Jewish Fund. He was also an active outdoorsman and during the 30s worked for the enlargement of Olympic National Park.
