Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Henry Friedman was born in 1928 in Brody, Poland (present day Ukraine). After Poland was invaded by Germany at the beginning of World War II, Friedman and his family were hidden by neighbors for 18 months and were liberated in March of 1944. Friedman immigrated to the United States in 1949, settling in Seattle. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950 and upon his discharge, worked in the fashion jewelry business for 28 years. Henry Friedman founded the Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center and was instrumental in helping establish the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C.
