Dorothy Macdonald was the daughter of James Reid Macdonald (1856–1893) and Mary Louise Fischer (1861-1935). The Macdonald family had a home at Wing Point on Bainbridge Island and Dorothy Macdonald recalls her memories of it as well as of her brother James Frederick (1889-1978), who was a yachtsman.
