Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Ryland McClung (born 1895) attended Stanford and joined the university ambulance unit with the 77th Division. He graduated from the University of Washington in law in 1922. His father, R. B. McClung, was an Iowa legislator and owner of the American Laundry Co. in Portland, Oregon.

Materials include correspondence, title abstracts, church records, business materials, and military, social, and educational memorabilia. Other materials include log books of car trips, maintenance and expenses, 1905-1916; notebook and poetry by Nellie, Ellen, and R. B. McClung; trial balance ledger, 1885-1886; Mildred McClung school records, 1904-1916; receipts for First Christian Church, 1923; and a scrapbook of Eva McClung, 1882. The collection also includes correspondence from Charles Hoyt to James George during the Civil War, 1861-1863.
