The collection is comprised of two photograph albums documenting trips by automobile, largely across the Pacific Northwest region and into British Columbia. They include photographs of the natural landscape, views of towns and images of individuals engaged in various activities at stops during the trips. They were possibly made by a couple from Portland.

Salem Capitol building, Salem, Oregon This is the second of three Oregon State capitol buildings.
The first building was destroyed by fire in 1855, the building seen here burned
down in 1935, and the third and current building was built on the same site in
1938.

Columbia The four totem poles pictured here were purchased from
Vancouver Island's Alert Bay. The totem poles were relocated to another
location in the park in the mid 1960s. The park currently features nine totem
poles, some of which were replaced to undergo preservation at various
museums.

The Navajo Bridge, Arizona Caption on album page: Lee's Ferry Bridge. The original Navajo Bridge was just completed the year before
this photograph was taken. A new bridge was constructed in 1995 right next to
the original bridge for automobiles. The original bridge remains open for
pedestrian and equestrian use only.

F. & A.M." So reads the sign on the front of this building at Old Shasta,
erected in 1853. The charter of this lodge was brought to California, from the
Grand Lodge of Missouri, by Peter Lassen, in 1848. The lodge was organized on
Lassen's ranch at Benton City, in Tehama County, but moved to Shasta on May 9,
1851.
