Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Stanton J. Linden earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College (1957) and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees (1961 and 1971) from the University of Minnesota. He joined the faculty of Washington State University in 1967 as an instructor in the Department of English and remained with the university for 35 years, retiring as a full professor in 2002. He is the author of many journal articles, and author or editor of several books including Darke Hierogliphicks: alchemy in English literature from Chaucer to the Restoration (1996) and The Alchemy Reader: from Hermes Trismegistus to Isaac Newton (2003). He also served as editor of the journal Cauda Pavonis: Studies in Hermeticism.
