Historical NoteReturn to Top

Peace Lutheran was organized as a home mission project of the Montana-Dakota District of the ALC on October 3, 1949. The congregation was comprised of several families of German ancestry from an ELC church in south Billings. When organized there were 83 confirmed members. Ground was broken April 1, 1951 for a Mission Chapel. Lots were purchased at the present site, ground was broken May 23, 1954 and the cornerstone was laid September 19, 1954. The education unit was completed in September of 1965. A parsonage was built at 1811 Avenue D in the summer of 1959. It was sold in 1975 and a larger home was purchased for a parsonage. In 1976 the parsonage was sold.
